STRATEGIC ADVICE
My role is to be the client’s Trusted Advisor from the outset of any important decision and negotiations in order to land the project and minimise the possibility of future disputes. In particular, my strong legal expertise in international litigation and arbitration means that I am ideally placed to strategically advise clients prior to commencing formal litigation proceedings.
Exerting the right pressure on the opponent in negotiations before a dispute arises, can often cut through the subsequent painful, expensive and lengthy process in Court or arbitration. If necessary, I collaborate with the most appropriate member(s) of the Bar to assist in these goals and to handle the ongoing matter if necessary.
I have considerable experience in negotiating and concluding major business projects, and also in international dispute resolution. I am therefore strategically positioned to assist and advise clients from the outset and throughout the negotiations for any major complex project. Assistance at this stage may serve to avoid future disputes and, if disputes nevertheless arise, I will be there to guide the clients on how best to achieve the desired outcome– by way of negotiation, ADR, arbitration or litigation or, indeed, a hybrid process, combining a number of elements. Uppermost in my mind is securing my clients’ best interests, including protection of their good name and reputation.
REPUTATION MANAGEMENT
I assist high-profile clients on a range of issues involving defamation, harassment, blackmail and breach of privacy. I also advise senior executives and high-profile clients (including their families) in relation to the removal of negative content from public websites.
Every issue potentially involves a reputation management aspect which needs to be addressed carefully. Damage to reputation may be far more significant than the pecuniary loss that flows from a particular transaction.
I collaborate with top PR companies in the US and UK, offering risk advice to politicians at various stages of their careers. This includes advising prominent candidates for the presidency in their respective countries.
PRIVATE WEALTH
I have a strong team of top specialists who advise on sophisticated private wealth planning, putting together plans that provide for family succession, the protection of the family business, the avoidance of family disputes, and all aspects of international
family governance.
I lead teams of specialists who advise families in the formation of a Family Office that is tailored to their specific needs. This entails establishing the most efficient structures, investment strategy and reporting planning.
If the Family Office is already in existence, my role can include working alongside the Family Office to ensure that next generations have the best education and are able to engage effectively with key advisors to protect and promote the families’ interests and core values.
I am a Trusted Adviser to a number of internationally renowned families and individuals, leading tailor-made teams of highly specialised lawyers in their field, advising on a broad range of challenges and opportunities in the private capital space.
I offer a particular focus on acting for international families and their businesses in South-East Asia, EU and the USA. My clients include overseas investors, large institutions, sovereign funds, luxury hotels, royal families, family offices and many very wealthy entrepreneurs.
Having been a partner for 15 years at top-tier London law firms, I am able to call upon former partners who are renowned specialists in their fields of expertise. I work closely with my former partners who have an unparalleled level of experience and knowledge in this field. In this capacity, we advise on estate planning to provide efficiently for assets and family members in multiple jurisdictions including all aspects of trust planning, especially in relation to trusts holding family businesses, including, where appropriate, planning to avoid losses on divorce. I set up the best teams of specialised professionals who advise on UK taxation for individuals and trusts including cross-border taxation co-ordination. This includes the proposed changes to the non-dom regime in the UK.

As part of the service that I continue to offer my clients, I now focus on portfolio deals. My team delivers billions worth of deals to its clients yearly. We originate new off-market opportunities and provide a number of services from sourcing transactions to securing and structuring senior and mezzanine financing, introducing co-partners, negotiating and financing debt buy backs, as well as NPLs, and, once the deal is structured, preparation of legal documentation and managing the transaction to successful closing.
